Install IslandDER™ nationwide with two easy methods. For our Solar MSA and EV MSA, utility approval is required for behind-the-meter install only.

Behind The Utility Meter
Depending on the territory, MSAs may be installed by either the solar installation company or a utility technician.

Separate Standalone Socket
Where utilities have not approved meter collars, you can install IslandDER™ in a separate standalone, customer-owned socket often without utility involvement. You may still need to coordinate with the utility for other aspects of the install.

Behind-The-Meter Install Requirements In Approved Utility Territories
Depending on the territory, you may need to coordinate with the utility for behind-the-meter installation.

Utility Install
Only an authorized utility technician can pull the billing meter and install the MSA.

Joint Install
Installation company can install the MSA, but a utility tech must be on-site to remove and reinsert the billing meter.

Installer Allowed
Sometimes called a 3rd Party Install by utilities: An electrician on-staff or contracted by the installer may pull the billing meter and install the MSA after notifying the utility.

IslandDER™ does not have a neutral wire. Product shown is the ConnectDER Solar Meter Socket Adapter. All our MSAs follow the same simple 3-step process for at-the-meter installs. In some areas, only utility technicians can install MSAs in the utility meter socket. For information about installing in a separate customer-owned socket, contact us.
