Infinite Invention, LLC is founded by Whit Fulton after receiving a grant from the Department of Energy's SunShot Incubator program. The goal: Develop a plug-and-play, at-the-socket solution to help solve the complexity and poor economics of distributed energy system installations.

Fulton and team are instrumental in helping develop new UL (Underwriters Laboratories) standards around the use of meter socket adapters, including supplements A, B, and C to UL 414 that remain the blueprint for all manufacturers to follow.

After years of development, iterating, field-testing, and collaborating with installers and utilities, the company's first device "The ConnectDER" hits the market in Vermont, with approval from Green Mountain Power to install behind the utility-owned billing meter.

The company launches a new SMART version of its Solar Meter Socket Adapter (MSA) with intelligence and connectivity functionality, expanding its market use cases and securing additional utility approvals.

Infinite Invention, LLC changes its name to ConnectDER and secures its first major round of funding, a $1.1M Series A. ConnectDER scales its R&D and manufacturing, utility and market opening initiatives, and customer growth.

ConnectDER surpasses 10,000 devices installed on homes thanks to major utility adoption including programs in Hawaii, New York, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and more.

Utilities nationwide have approved ConnectDER's Solar MSA, with more than 20,000 devices installed.

After a $7M Series B funding round in 2020, ConnectDER receives an additional $27M Series C investment to scale operations, expand its workforce, and launch new products aimed at simplifying renewable energy installations beyond just rooftop solar.

ConnectDER secures a $35M Series D round of funding from BlackRock and Temasek's joint venture, Decarbonization Partners, and appoints Ivo Steklac as President & CEO; Founder Whit Fulton becomes Chief Product Officer. The company launches its EV MSA for panel upgrade avoidance on at-home charger installs, and its IslandDER™ MSA for easier solar-plus-battery installs.

ConnectDER partners with leading battery manufacturers for integration with its next-gen IslandDER™ MSA including FranklinWH, Lunar Energy, EcoFlow, Fox ESS, and SolarEdge—with 20 others under agreement for future integration. The company expands its executive team with new appointments to Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operations Officer, and VP of Sales & Marketing.
